The Spanish brand of consumer electronics SPC has analyzed the use we make of electronic devices in summer and which are the most used.
The smartphone is, by far, the essential device to enjoy the summer holidays, followed by the headphones and the tablet
The study reveals that women try to reduce the time spent using technology in summer in 5% more cases than men.
We live surrounded by electronic devices. Moreover, in recent months, we have made great use of them given the exceptional situation we have had to live. The hours of confinement forced us to look for other ways to be in contact with people, to do sports through apps, to listen to music with a device instead of live and to see our faces with our loved ones through the screens of our smartphones.
Now that summer is approaching, Spaniards are facing this time of year with a desire to disconnect to connect with what really matters. The 'I Radiografía de los españoles Smart' led by the Spanish consumer electronics brand SPC, reveals that 42.1% of Spaniards between 18 and 75 years reduces the use of electronic devices in summer to devote more time to themselves, to the people who matter most to them or to enjoy their favorite activities.
Regarding this last data, the report also reveals that women try to reduce the consumption of electronic devices more, standing at 44.5% compared to men who reduce it by 39.6%.
The smartphone, the gadget essential gadget for summer holidays
The arrival of the holidays, the days off and the lack of work responsibilities makes us think about what devices we want to have with us during this summer period. Through this study we can know that, among all the diversity of electronic devices that we currently have, thesmartphone is the device considered indispensable in the summer holidays, being so for 8 out of 10 Spaniards (80.10%).
Followed by this, but with a quite relevant distance, are the headphones, which are basic for 27.7% of the population, the tablet for 22.7% or the ebook, which can not miss for 21.9%. These four devices are the preferred ones for people who have had a lot of contact with technology and it is already part of their daily life.
On the other hand, the radio (11.5%), the smart bracelet (9.6%), the smartwatch (9.4%), the speakers (8.3%) and the conventional mobile phone (7.2%) are the electronic devices that are indicated as less necessary in the day to day of the summer holidays.
It is important to note that only 1 in 20 Spaniards (5.52%) say they are able to enjoy their summer holidays without any of the above devices.
This is how we Spaniards live our summer techie: same electronic devices, but less time of use
With the summer and the change of habits, some Spaniards see modified the time of use of electronic devices. According to the SPC study, there is an increase in the need to disconnect during this period, as 42.1% say they reduce the consumption of devices during this season compared to 33.2% who, on the contrary, increase their use, or 24.7% who say they keep it compared to the rest of the year.
On the other hand, most Spaniards use the same devices as during the rest of the year, although there is a significant 30.5% who say they change devices during their summer holidays (for example, more use of the ebook versus mobile) as their habits and needs change. These users, in turn, also alter their frequency of use habits, as only 4.7% of Spaniards who turn to new devices in summer maintain the time they spend with them.
It can be concluded that, although a significant part of the Spaniards surveyed will take advantage of the extra leisure hours to escape from the hyperconnectivity to which we are subjected the rest of the year, for most Spaniards technology has been a great help in the last year to stay connected with our loved ones and to enjoy many of the daily activities to which we were accustomed.
